If you saw the post using wooden poles to hold the awning stretched tight here is another thought. My parents had a 1959 Nimrod Camper with a add on tent room new. Dad made the same type of horizontal rods from thin wall conduit cutting to length and flating the ends and drilling the end to allow them to be secured to the poles. His vertical poles had tips that went through the awning top so he drilled the holes large enough to fit over the pole tips, put them on next, then put the canvas on top It held everything very straight and stood through some strong storms. He also used 1/2 inch steel rods that I welded Links from a piece of 3/8s chain on to tie the guy ropes to, these drove in with out bending and lasted forever. This is less expensive and they wont warp.

Addition to above. You can cut them into shorter pieces and insert a metal Rod in the open end a couple inches and sticking out a couple inches then weld or rivet it to just one end to allow them to break down into shorter lengths for easier transport. Also they can be painted or powder coated to enhance their appearance. These are light weight, durable, and will last forever with reasonable care.
