Hello, my name is Renee and I recently purchased a refurbished 1964 Fleetcraft Trailer to hopefully call home in Southern California for the length of grad-school and perhaps beyond. I paid for a function-based refurb over a factory-new restoration or imaginative renovation. It was an excellent experience to date. I adore the trailer and hope it bears out as a good investment for me. What to say....I'm new to the whole way of life and came to it as a budget-focused extension of my enthusiasm and longterm goal of settling in a Tiny House (stick built; exact size TBD). I love a good aesthetic and am not a purist in my vintage-love. Part of my tiny-house-love is a pretty intense desire to have 2 set micro homes or a very small cottage and 1 mobile unit to allow for bi-coastal living as a traveling therapist after graduation. In the process of examining all my options I've come to love the vintage campers so much I'm thinking seriously about retaining the trailer after graduation and having the layout re-imagined and fully renovated sometime in the future. It's cute now but my minds' eye can see untapped potential in the original floor plan and I'd love a tastefully upgraded version even more.
I'm excited by this forum and hope to learn alot from all the more-experienced folks here! Thank you

Welcome full-timer from a part timer. We have a '59 Shasta Compact that is currently housing me 3 or 4 nights a week while I work 140 miles from home. I've been doing this for nearly a year and a half, and it's just great. We put a little "bathroom" with shower in "Hamlet" and though I often use the bathroom in the RV park, it's there and it's convenient. I absolutely love coming home after a long day at work followed by a good workout to my own little "cabin." It has my down comforter and pillows, my dishes and pots and pans, etc. It's cozy and comfortable, and best of all, easy to clean!

Thank you Dawn, for the trailer love. I really do adore her. (trailers are like ships, right?) This one's a "her" anyway. And Hamlet, I know what you mean! Having my tiny little trailer to come home to has made me very happy.

I really admire your aspirations for your mobile way of life and think you are well on your way. Keep us updated as it evolves! Best….
