Awesome! Those first few pics are what we dream about... finding a sweet old camper just sitting somewhere waiting for us to find it. Congrats..

Dagwood, what metal are you replacing? The skirt boards are the boards that run across the bottom and attach to the joists on the frame. The framing is the 1x2's that the paneling is nailed to. Have you figured out what year it is? I see the VIN, it was built in Pennsylvania. I'm guessing it's a '68 or later. I'm not sure what year they changed to that skin. Anything before 68 probably did not have factory clearance lights on the front.

Ross told me it was a 74 and when I looked that year up I found a picture of one just like it.

Also, I wanted to let everyone know that even though the middle floor joist boards look rotten there not they have some kind of coating on them. The skirting boards are shot and some of the framing boards but not all of them.

Dagwood, the joists on my 62 are coated with something, too. It's black. I even had some leveling blocks just like it in my baggage compartment. My underside is coated with something white. Don't know what either coatings are, but they sure did work for 50+ years. But, my 65 doesn't seem to have any protective coating.

Awesome! I'm going to sand the metal underneath and paint it and also stain the wood, I hope that's OK.

I use a waterproofing roof material to touch up the black underneath. From Home Depot: Water clean up and sticks good. Put it on after the build, because it will come off on your hands and clamps...

Awesome that's what I'll do! What kind of butyl tape should I use?
