I spent most of last night reading thread after thread and taking note after note, and printing out specific posts in order to prepare myself to go look at a 1978 Shasta camper in Honey Brook, PA today. If I had not done that, or read your threads, I'd likely be the proud owner right now of a camper that I was not yet aware had to be completely rebuilt. Turns out, y'all are right; newbies should NOT buy the first camper they see And I thank you most sincerely for having this wonderful site where I could learn that BEFORE I plunked down a couple thousand dollars on it. I briefly introduced myself in another thread, but here goes again. My name is Karen, I'm single and have a grown son, a lovely daughter-in-law and the two most amazing and wonderful grandsons ever. My real hobby is quilting, both on modern machines and also on my three vintage/antique treadle sewing machines (which I restored myself). I've been thinking about getting a project camper for a while to use when I travel to my various Vintage Sewing Machine Geek Fests, and a vintage camper seemed just the thing when I saw the listing. But now I know the very beginnings of how to tell a project camper from a "rebirth"--I think I'm going to stick to seeking the project camper and leave the rebirths to those with both the skills and a garage Thank you again and I'm sure you'll be hearing from me as I have questions. And maybe in the next year or two with the right project for me (hey, I waited years for just the right vintage/antique sewing machines--I figure the right camper will make itself known to me)

So glad you found the site. You're on the right track. Welcome!! I'm a quilting, knitting, embroidery nut. I have 3 treadle machines, only one that is functional, and 4 modern machines. And I sadly lost my my mom's old Singer electric.
