I did save the monopoly game, I figured I would search garage sales and thrift stores to try to make a hole one with the non damaged pieces.

Here are the other photos of the interior. Pretty much the only skin damage I removed some wood on the seats, floor looks like some water damage but is very solid feeling. some damage in the bottom right corner more water damage under the window close up of the water damage in the back right corner Kitchen area seems in decent condition, and all the goods i scored with the camper Im pretty bummed that cut out is broken especially because the closet is in good condition and does not need to be replaced In the closet, and it came with that weird little hooking ladder Table top might clean up well, not sure though. Water damage to the door

Hi Mel, I think you mentioned that you are in Michigan. Before you reach for the paint, check out Toledo plywood. Here is a price list for their plywood. While you might not find ash, you could probably find something that would match. I'm thinking oak might be close in grain to the ash. www.toledoplywood.com/hardwood.asp

mel, if you paid $400 for that Compact you may have made the purchase of the year. All the damaged areas you have included in the additional pics does not detract from the great purchase. In fact, it gives you a lot more wiggle room to spend on whatever you want to do to it. Make her your own and enjoy the process!

HOLD THE PHONE MEL..... None of that looks like ash to me. Not sure what it is but it doesn't look like ash. It could be birch. Just not real grainy birch. You need to replace the rear metal skin anyways so may as well replace that rotted paneling in the rear as well. Not that hard of a job. My videos will lead you through that if you want but with all the Compact photos and advice on this forum you should have no problem. I really want a Compact now. $400 was a GREAT price. And as far as titles are concerned, for a price that low it's worth taking the chance. You done good!

Seems like the 62's had ash but most others were birch.

mobiltec, I would love to watch your videos, where can I find them at??
And I just assumed it was ash because it doesn't have that golden color, but I would prefer it to be birch because it would be easier to match. How to I figure out which one it actually is? I would prefer to keep it all wood I can, replace what is needed and use the amber shellac on it. Do you know if anyone on here has sanded it down and put the amber shellac on it? does it turn out well??

Susie, just saw that the other day, I just said it had brakes because the seller said it did, he said he tried to fix them. So technically I have no clue yet, I was just going off his words, I will find out soon though

Yes, I got to thinking about it and the original trailer lights had a round 6 (not 7, maybe a 5) connection. I suppose that was for the brake option, rather than the flat 4 that doesn't have a wire for brakes.

I need to learn way more about lights and wiring. I get what your saying, but don't quite fully grasp it haha. I think I'll have to rewire mine, someone has addred 3 lights above both the front and back windows, and there are cords/wires on the inside randomly draped in different areas. I think wiring will be the most challenging part of this restore because I understand it least, my neighbor said the guy down the street does electrical so apparently I need to make a new friend lol

Hi again! I just realized that I didn't really introduce myself or anything, I was just so excited about my camper that I forgot all that, haha. My name is Melissa, I am 32 years old, married to my husband Steven and have a two year old daughter, Delilah. I have always loved everything vintage, my mom says I was born in the wrong era. I grew up with a very handy dad, so I help build stuff my entire life growing up. Six years ago I bough my first house, it was built in 1919 and needed so much work when I bought it. Since then I have been busy remodeling it. So far we have painted the entire house, remodeled the kitchen and bathroom, next is to finish the attic. And we have done all the work ourselves. So I thought why not throw something else into the mix, I felt like I had been dreaming of a vintage camper for so long. I have such great memories of camping as a child, I thought now that I have a child I would love to give her some of the same great memories I had. I have been researching campers for years and have came across a ton of blogs and videos and have read and watched most of them, dreaming of when I would get to use them. And now I do! hahaha, still so excited. And also mad that this weekend is packed full of stuff I would rather not be doing so that I could be working on my Shasta. Anyways I think I have rambled on about myself enough now. Nice to meet everyone and thanks for being so helpful already Also I put a lot of smily faces in all my posts haha

Hi again! I have been feeling very overwhelmed with where to start on the camper, I still have not got the coupler fixed yet. I'm really worried that once I take the camper apart I will not be able to put it back together, ha. Maybe if a few of you could let me know how you got started?? Every time I go in it, I just see all the water damage and get discouraged and then do nothing.
