Hi there, I am happy to have found this forum and hope to learn from the experts My trailer is the third purchase I have made, the first was when the infection first took hold of me traileritis in the beginning caused me to jump into a 1969 Rocket that was a 200 hundred dollar lesson. My second is cute as a button 1969 Golden Falcon but will never leave the yard, unless of course someone begged me to get ridof it. Shes a great bunkie by the garden. Three's a charm right? Well even though this trailer is in horrible condition, I am in love with it's shape and the fact that there are very few around compels me to give it all new bones. This winter I will knit less that for sure! The wood stove will be in full gear out in the Canned Hams Cave. I look forward to hopefully connecting with others who also have been fortunate to have saved a McGinness.

I have to say, I cannot believe that nails were used as opposed to screws. where the j-rail would normally be the trim was nailed on, and the bottom around the entire trailer was nailed. Today I removed cupboards above sink and three pieces of 3 1/4 inch ply walls only 2 will work as template. I need to get new photos in this computer.

Somehow the no smoking sign seems funny... However, the trailer has a great style to it and also a window in the door which not all trailers have.. it will look amazing when finished.

Yes these trailers were typically a custom build for companies and used as job trailers. The guy we bought it from said the last owner had it for many years and he was about 85 when he sold it. this gentle man had sold honey out of it. This trailer also has a electronic fan on the roof instead of a vent. I believe it had a wood stove at one time. I seen a post of another McGinness owner, it is why i ended up here. now i cant find it lol

Got news for ya. Those nails were commonly used on the old canned hams but in the 40s not the 50s. I think you have something that is dated more like 1947 to 51 max... Could be a 48 instead of a 58. Not 100% sure... Good score.
