Hi! I have owned this 1968 Shasta 1400 since '08. I really only started doing the major repair work on it last summer before I hauled it to Wyoming and lived out of it for four months while I documented the architecture of the Lincoln Highway for the SHPO. I replaced flooring, walls, windows, resealed seams/vent and still have the entire exterior to do (even though I have stickers from my travels I'd have to cover up now). I officially joined the Shasta board right before it stopped and it seems like this is a great alternative site? (Can someone confirm?) I will be relocating the Shasta to my new home where I am going to have to rely on suggestions to get it into the garage (I see some recent posts!) and continue the work. Thank you in advance for all of your wonderful info sharing here. I look forward to being more active in the group as I get the camper closer to home.

First welcome to the board. There are a number of folks from the vintage Shasta board that have migrated here when the old board closed down. The format was opened up to all vintage trailers though. It opened up the discussions to lots of other interesting brands of campers, different problems and solutions, and of course plenty of interesting people.
I noticed the NY plate on your 1400...what part of NY? Where (roughly, of course) is your new home for the Shasta going to be? I live in the Finger Lakes region of NY myself and have a couple projects going on at once now. One is a 16SC from around 1970, similar in style to the 1400.
Thank you for linking in your photos...I have only seen just a few, and can't wait to get out of work today so I can browse through all of them...love it!

Here are some more photos from last summer. I've never been happier than during the time I was working on it for one month straight (not enough time!!) trying to get it living and road ready. I definitely got it to the point of safe and comfortable, but it still needs work! I am now thinking it's time to dig into the frame. I took care of the worst areas (floor) for immediate use, but I know because of that troublesome back window that the back frame needs to be changed out. The wood wasn't completely rotted or anything, but it wasn't great. Oh, but the real joy was living in it out in Wyoming for four months!! I bought the camper in Connecticut from a guy who swore that rear leak had just started. Of course, now I know that was a lie. They did great cosmetic things on the inside (new and professionally-sewn cushions, curtains and reproduction magazine rack, etc.) but seemed to ignore the really obvious problems like the seals on the vent and that awful back window! I grumbled as I found more and more that went against the seller's description to me when I went to take a look, but I love the Shasta and am glad to have it. And gosh, today I'd pay at least double the price! I got NY plates because I lived in NY at the time. I now live in the Midwest and am going to have to jump over the hurdle of getting it registered without a title. It never had a title and finally NY caved and allowed us to register it at the time. Wisconsin seemed very helpful in the process. It arrives in two weeks at my new place! (It has been in storage in Michigan.)

You're making me start to itch for another road trip. Did a 2000 mile loop last summer. Now I have the itch again. Welcome to the board!
