Don't think I'm calling it the right name but ... it's a black rubber bulb that works the hand pump. Ours looks dry. What can I put on it to make it shine and help keep it suple? Thank you in advance!

I'm not familiar with a black rubber bulb? A picture would be great!

I wonder if it is a priming bulb like is in the fuel line on a old outboard motor.

BTW, if anyone has some of those blue plastic cupboard bumpers to sell, please let me know. I need more to finish up the inside.
I can get black and tan but want the original blue as I paint them over with aqua.

Are you talking about the black knob on the pump handle?

That's what I'm talking about bigbill! Looks like part of a turkey baster. Anything I can use to keep it soft?

Um, the handle end is hard plastic. It has nothing to do with pumping water, just protects your hand. To pump, you move the handle forward and back. You should feel some resistance when "pumping" and water should flow if the tank has water.
The pump is readily replaceable.

vikx are you picking on me LOL!
Ok, it's the rubber end of the handle, that works the hand pump. We won't be using it but I want to keep it from dry rotting. I may put some stuff on it that's used to shine up old tires. I would think that would be safe.

Of course I'm not picking on you! The handle is just supposed to be "hard" not soft... The bulb description had me thinking you had a real bulb in line to pump water. PO's do the strangest things.
I think any good wax, Armour All or shine on would work...
