I was standing in line at Home Depot, and the guy in front of me was buying this "thing"... And I thought to myself, I want three of those to use as bases for my wood pole awnings I'm going to make. I just don't know what it is???

Check out my Tiki Torch pole holders at the bottom of this link (cast iron) and would be easier to use (screw for tension). vintagetrailertalk.freeforums.net/thread/2045/heavy-duty-awning-poles-where

LadyW, did you see the tiki torch holders that Corvett posted? They would probably be cheaper.

Just checked out the tiki torch holder.. Very nice.. One question.. Do you know what diameter of pole they will hold? Sorry they are not clearer. Mine isn't completely round and I'm sure they vary. But I found that on this one about 1 3/8" pole would probably be the maximum. I don't know what tent poles or closet rods measure. I'm sure the tent poles are probably smaller. Added note - It probably wouldn't be too difficult to build a PVC frame for the sides, of course, lighter could be good or bad, depending on how you look at it.
