Greetings!
New member and new owner here. I was wondering if you could tell me anything about mine.
A321013971
I've not had much luck with Google searches, but judging by the stripe, I'm guessing a 77 or 78? It also humps up in the back for the (former) bunk house design, I've seen this referred to as a 2550. Does that sound right?

Hey Joey, If you can post a picture or two of the streetside or curbside, that will really help. Also, what is the total length of the trailer, tongue to bumper? This link should help with posting pictures: vintagetrailertalk.freeforums.net/thread/33/tutorial-posting-photos-using-photobucketAs for the vin number, A321013971, is the first "1" possibly a "P"? Typically, the vin#s of Shasta's in the mid to late 1970's, started off A**P******. These vin#'s reflect when Coachmen purchased the Shasta brand. Ross

Ross, I am in the process of acquiring a relative's Shasta Compact. Title was stolen. He is applying for a duplicate title for me, but we can't see the VIN stamped on the trailer. We contacted the assessor's office at which he had paid property taxes on and they have this info listed: 1970 SHAS VIN WV143280. I'm thinking this cannot be correct. For one thing, the trailer looks much older than 1970 and the format of the VIN doesn't seem to match what you all are saying on this forum. I guess it's possible that the PO just gave the incorrect info to the assessor's office. I will do further research and look harder for the number once I get it to my home. Have you ever seen a VIN like that? Thanks Christine

Ross,
I am trying to get the title corrected for the 1963 Shasta 1500, title has 1969 on it. So, they want some "proof", since the only thing they can go by is their own computer system, and the only thing in there is that the trailer vin belongs to a 1969 Shasta. Is there any database or info I can give them to prove it's a 1963? I've tried to show them pictures detailing the differences, but they want more. Any direction or info you can help me with would be much appreciated. Thanks, Chuck Kunzelman

The first "1" is definitely not a "P". It may be an "I". It doesn't look like the other "1's" in the number. It just looks like a strait line. The best I could measure by myself is in between 24 and 25 feet. Here are the pics I have:

christinewvThat vin number looks as though it was given by the DMV. You can find the VIN# stamped on the top of the "curbside" tongue and / or inside on a welded plate of the "streetside tongue. Good luck on the search and once you locate it, just let me know and I will be glad to help date your Shasta. Ross

kunzelmanHey Chuck, I will PM you a list from my database, tomorrow morning, that you can print and take to them, with pictures (as you did before). It's probably going to takes a sympathetic DMV officer, but it does happen. Ross

Thank you Ross. I am wondering how to proceed now with the titling process. Once I get the duplicate title signed over to me, should I try to correct it once I find the correct VIN?

Hey Christine, As for the title......you can leave it as is, with the "new vin number) or try to get it changed, which may be a tough road. But with persistence and patience, you may be able to get it changed back to the original vin number. This is provided that the vin# has not been listed as stolen or used for another trailer.
Unfortunately, you won't know either of these, until you have to go through your local DMV's Theft and Recovery department. This is where they will verify the actual stamped vin# on the tongue and enter it into their database of stolen trailer vin#'s. This process can take up to 2 weeks, at least that's how long it took for me.

Hello, Here's my Shasta VIN: C3426
Well, I thought I posted this Info on my 1954 Shasta awhile ago...but I just came across my VIN# so I thought I'd post it again since its one of the earliest VINs I've seen. Here's how is listed on the Title from the Original owner.
Model Year: 1954 Make: Shast, Power/use: TVL, Series& Body Style: 14F/SKY, VIN: C3426
I am not sure why the 14F/Sky ? I know its 14'. I've seen Skylark on shasta sites, but never Sky or seen any ads going back that far to confirm the various models in 1954.
Cheers ! P@
