Shasta Compact, the top plywood board on the bed/bench that stays stationary but is over the pull out section is just nailed down on the side next to the wall. Well, it was. I'm wondering if anyone has used a piano hinge on theirs? I'm considering reinforcing the edge of the board with a strip of plywood and adding a hinge.

At first I thought you were talking about the folding bunk but if you are talking about the goucho then I don't see what it would hurt, not really sure what it would help either. If you are just want to use it as a way to fasten it to the wall with screws you could use a piece of aluminum angle or make your own angle from a piece of scrap siding or an inexpensive roll of aluminum flashing ($5 or $6 st the hardware store).

Yep, that board at 2:10. Hinging it would make it easy to lift up to access the storage underneath and would just hold in place better. The bunks are canvas.

That's OK because that is the kind of hinge I'm talking about, just down instead of up Is that yours? Looks good!

It is. Before doing any work. We've since removed the paneling. The paneling over the paneling. Thanks. It should have the canvas bunk but a PO added that. Will probably keep it.
