Finally got the trailer out of storage yesterday! Minnesota has a brutal winter and there's no guarantee it's over. My goal is to be camping by July. So much to do and so little time. I've created a Photobucket account with photos I have to date. Let the challenges begin! Mobiltec-waiting for some more videos from your 59. s1052.photobucket.com/user/1959ShastaAirflyte/library/?sort=3&page=1

I can't remember who needed a few extra. I took out my floor today and have 20 of them that are in one piece. I'm not doing any more complete restores on video until I get caught up. I just don't have the time. I need to get this trailer finished before it get's too hot and it's going to get really hot. It turned out to be a hell of a lot more work than I thought it would be so I'm way behind. I may do the fridge install as it's own little series though.

No, Larry it's not me who needs tiles. I lay 1/4 inch plywood over the whole floor and put down new tiles. I don't mess with the old ones. Thanks, though.

Finally working on the trailer today! Replacing rotten wood around the wheel wells. I love doing this. Also, my roll of formica came in today. Yoohoo!

I am officially in full trailer restoration mode. School's out! Some shellac today, working on new table and countertop, roof vent black goop gone and new Manus applied. I still have a mostly gutted trailer but hoping to do the floor tomorrow. Goal is to be done by early July. Just have to say formica scares the @#$%^% out of me. Don't want to order another sheet. Any hints?

Thanks, Larry. I watched the series and found some great ideas. I don't have a fancy router like you but I do have a Roto-Zip and bought the laminate bit. Got the table done and another small piece finished. Now for the countertop. I did find a laminate scoring tool and tried it. I like it for the straight lines. I also am laying new tile and found that it works nifty for cutting the tiles. I still have to watch the tutorial here on posting pictures.

Big frustrations today. I was not able to do a frame off restoration with my Airflyte, but am trying to do a good job. I want the outside and windows not leaking before I put the new birch in. Pulled all but the front window over the weekend, got the first coat of paint on. Of course, Minnesota had severe storms rolling in so the windows had to go back on. Some painter friends are coming to spray it this week(if it quits raining). Windows will have to be taped off. I'm talking torrential rains and wind here. The front window has never been removed on this trailer so it's a given it will leak. The back three windows have been reinstalled according to Larry's great videos. I still have small leaks and am looking for ideas. It's so frustrating when you think you did it right and it still isn't.

Shutzee, have you re-puttied your edge trim/J rail? That alone will make the windows drip if not done... Also: new putty on the roof vent? Putty is a critical sealant in metal to metal flange areas and must be replaced after 40+ years...

Yes, I have done both of those things. The leaks I am fighting are in the bottom corner (only one of the two corners) of the three back windows. My edges and vent do not leak at this point. Heavy rain came through last night and I still have leaks. I do not have the eyebrows on yet, do you think that will help?
My DYI paint job is a nightmare. I did my last trailer and it came out ok. Short story, husband got involved and asked his painter friends what paint would be best to use. So I go to Sherwin Williams and buy the recommended paint. It sucks! Goes on rough and no shine. New plan is to finish and wait for next year to start over.
Lastly, I took a break yesterday to play a little two-square with my grandson. Somehow pulled a back muscle and have been moving slow. If I ever think about doing another trailer I'm locking myself up until the thought passes.

Make sure the leaks are not coming from the glass. The window itself may be leaking as opposed to the leak coming from around the window frame.

SusieQ I was just thinking if you do about two or three more of these trailers you will know so much that you will be telling us old timers how to solve problems when we don't know.

I was suspicious of the window frames as well... If you can get to the frame, gutter seal will help. Also, mounting the eyebrows will seal the eyebrow holes.
My 53 Hanson had a leaky back Hehr window. Heavy DEW had water running down the back wall. On closer inspection, I notice holes the PO had drilled in the window frame. Sealed now. I also didn't have the eyebrow in place; thinking those handy screw holes didn't help.
