Hi everyone. I recently purchased a 1969 aristocrat lo liner. Thankfully it doesn't need that much work however I'm looking to install a modern heater into the trailer. I live in Colorado so it's kind of a necessity. Space is very tight and I'm wondering if anyone has had any success in installing a heater in this type of trailer before. I only see 2 real options: in the closet or beneath one of the benches in the dining area. Neither one is perfect. It's a really cool trailer and a really great project. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much! !!

Hi Mandoman and welcome!
The heater of choice that many of us use is the Olympian Wave 3. It is very efficient and warms a 15 foot trailer very well. It uses no power but does need some venting, which isn't a problem in a vintage trailer. Most have lots of "air" leaks thru the door and windows.
If you are considering a forced air furnace, space is an issue as is a 12 volt system. Personally, I would go with the Wave.

Mandoman, I have a 68 Lo Liner with heater and the heater is in the closet, I believe it's was an option from I can read about Lo Liner. When you open entry door it's the first thing you see on the left mounted in closet and vented through the side wall going out side. Hope this helps a little.

Hi vikx and Ronnie, Thanks very much for the quick reply!!! This board is awesome..I know how I'm spending my (little) free time from now on. I purchased this trailer last summer because I really admired one owned by some friends. I'm hooked.
vikx...I have considered the Wave 3, but have real concerns about CO output and O2 depletion since it isn't vented and has no fresh air source. I'm sure the '69 Lo-liner leaks like a sieve. It might be an option in a pinch before I can come up with a built in system.
Ronnie.... I'm not sure why some Lo-liners were fitted with heaters and some not. From your post it sounds like the output vent faces the doorway...not the sink/stove? Do you know the brand? More for specs/dimensions.
In some of the furnace/heater posts I ran across this company..
www.propexheatsource.co.uk/type/air
Especially the HS2212. Any experience with these...thoughts...concerns?
She isn't perfect, but good shape overall. Needs exterior paint and a little love on the interior paneling. Already have a great solar setup from Goal Zero to run all DC/AC. Biggest issue is that it sat in a field for years (mostly closed up), but the owners places block D-con throughout and it decomposed and leached into the flooring. That's the priority right now...rip up linoleum, KILZ, lay new flooring to seal in the D-con.
Any more help on the heater would be appreciated. THANKS!!!

Mandoman, on this forum, march 4, SusieQ put a post #3. Has a pic brochure on Aristocrats, you have to play with it a little, but it says that optional equipment was twin 5 gal LP tanks, 3 cu ft refrig, and 9000 BTU furnace. I think they were Duo Therm heaters. Look on this forum for Aristocrat Lo liner from Kansas. Mine is in the closet and vented outside through the wall beside the entry door handle. I need to get on photobucket, but having problems with my computor.

Ronnie, Thanks man. That helps a lot. I couldn't find the post you referenced ,but I did find a couple pics of late '60's Lo-liners that definitely show the vertical venting by the door. It gives me a place to start for the closet, although the Propex is intriguing since it is all externally mounted and uses outside air. There must have been several options within Lo-Liners as the manufacturers changed over time. Mine only had a single LP tank, ice box and no heat. It also looks like '69 was the year that the design changed a little to that more '70s look. I like the pre-68's better. Thanks again for your help.

Don't buy a Coleman furnace. They were recalled for a reason: explosion. Also inspect the old Suburban NTs for burn out of the chamber. Holes are easily visible.
