I just saw these two really cool decorating ideas on Pintrest last night. The first one... A guy turned a flat screen TV into a retro one , by painting the frame trim to look like Bake lite and adding vintage knobs. The second photo is of some shelves.. I don't know if they are origional to the camper, but they could be done in almost any camper that has enough room..

The coolest part is that it's inside a trolley top trailer. Very nice.

Love that tv. I actually bought a non working vintage tv that I'm hoping to rip the guts out of and install a flat screen ( a la Disney's TV's in Prime Time Restaurant in Hollywood Studios). I bought tv on ebay though and the seller didn't disclose all the exterior damage - so I'm trying to figure out how to restore/repaint it. But that's the plan. The idea above might have been easier! Thanks for the posts. Love those shelves, too.

A lot of times if you click on the photo it takes you to the blog of the person who did it. I know he said something about painting it to look like bake light... Perhaps there is more instructions. I will check for you

I tracked down the guy who posted it. It is a guy who owns a vintage vacation park with gorgeous air streams that the rents out. I have emailed him to see if he has some info on the process or photos that he is willing to share. I let you know as soon as he replies.

Thanks, I think I have a great plan worked out, I want to build a TV like this only make it look thick like the old TV.s behind it will be my AC unit and the air would exit through fake speaker vents.
this would work nicely I think since I was going to mount them in the rear of the camper on top of each other, still got to play with the design, hot air exit, air intake etc. but it is doable.

Thanks for the links - looks like a project that is way over my skill level. Back to my original plan of using the case of a real vintage tv and getting a flat screen to fit inside. Hopefully with a remote, there would be no need to access the volume or channel controls with it. That tv is beautiful though.

We are going to steal that idea and run with it. In addition to the flat screen, we are doing a 'retro' restyling on the Frigidaire refrigerator in Tallulah Belle, so we will post pics when that is done.

I think the three bent bars that go over the speaker cloth circles may be two sizes of cabinet door handles. I'm going to see if I can find some.. I'm glad you found the photo tutorial, it gives enough info to try it yourself. I won't be having a tv in my camper. But I love the idea for anyone who does, because it somehow seems wrong to restore these babies to vintage condition and then spoil the illusion with modern items.... guess I'll have to try and dress vintage when we travel too! Maybe this this thread should have a sticky marked.."how to build a vintage tv cover"

We have converted a vintage tv to a welcome sign; staring our camper, to use during rallies. It even has a light behind it to glow in black and white at night. (I would love to show a picture but I am new to this and don't seem to know how to create a url for my picture. Any hints?)
