30 foot per roll of 3/4 inch X 1/8 thick. The Da-Vid is a typical 10 foot long by 6 foot wide. I'm doing a complete re-skin; J-rails, windows, door, seams, joints, I'll probably even stick some on the tires for good traction.  For the J-rail, do I apply 3/4 to the top and 3/4 to the side (total of 1 1/2 inches)? I was thinkin 3 rolls but now I'm thinkin 4. Please advise. Thanks  |

Use 1 inch wide for the J Rail. It will take almost two rolls. Two more of 3/4 for everything else. Trim the excess with a razor knife in the morning when it's cool and use that for the brow above the window. By the way this 57 Westerner I just finished used a little over 500 new screws... 100 #6 by 1/2 inch and 400 #8 by 3/4inch

You can measure the windows and perimeter of the walls for your rain rail.
What ever the number of feet you come up with, "you will run out", and need to buy another roll to finish the trailer! It's Murphy's Law.
I buy twenty four rolls at a time now (for cost savings), and just use it as necessary. Keep it cool and it won't go bad.

I'm jealous of Flat Tire. He can still get the good Roberts Unison underlayment that I use for condensation barrier. I did find out that I can still order it though so Im going to order a truck load of the stuff LOL... Yes it's always good to have an extra roll around. Keep it in a cool place when storing. I know people who keep it in a refrigerator. I don't go that far though.
It really is over 500 screws though. |

Keeping the putty in plastic bags really helps, too. Doesn't dry out and stays more pliable. Don't putty in cold weather...

I assume the #8's were used on the J-rail, windows, brows, etc, and the 6#s on the skin? Finally, what screw type do you recommend to fasten the ceiling supports (rafters) to the curbing? |

A while back I read a thread about the butyl tape subject and there was a an extremely informative discussion between vikz and Mobil and a few others on this subject. Now I'm searching for it and can't find it. Anyone remember that? Rob is doing the jrail and making a repair to a strange roof seam and I think it would be super helpful for him.
