Hey guys! My wife and I are restoring a 1958 Shasta airflyte. We've removed the back mattress that folds into a bench, and unfortunately it had a lot of mold on the back. We are looking for ideas on how the heck to clean something like that, or if any replacements exist out there that can be purchased.

If the mattress is in two pieces, you can get upholsterer’s foam. It’s denser and more supportive than what the hobby/sewing stores offer. If it’s one piece, you could do one for a fold up sofa (I don’t remember what they’re called). Be aware that your bed isn’t a full size, but a 3/4 and a regular full size won’t fit. You can have foam cut to your needs. We found ours from a place in Portland, OR, that sells to the trades, but you may be able to get some from an upholsterer. You’ll have to make, or have made cushion covers in any case. Good luck!

] We used the 6” foam from Amazon. Works great for sitting but we have to use a 2” mattress topper for sleeping because it’s really firm.
