My new to me camper is probably 1960's ? I cannot get a true identity on make and model. So I'll love it anyway. What I would like to know is: Is the water tank, which is probably original metal and heavy, safe to use. Is there something about prepping the tank for use I should know. It most likely hasn't been used in years. Thanks

Hi, From a vintage trailer guy located in Santa Ana, CA. It's good to see lots of activity here.

I hope you do not take this the wrong way but you should hope your 63 year old water tank leaks air pressure or water. If it leaks, then the choice is already made up for you, it has to be replaced. If it does not leak, just look inside the tank, and your mind will be made up for you to replace the tank. You're going to find water scale, critters, bugs, and mouse poop. Just think of Alice Cooper's lyrics Spiders and Snakes, replace the tank, don't look back. A new plastic RV water tank with custom fittings "spun weld" is just over a $100. cost.

New tank is best. I also NEVER drink out of the trailer tank, even if it's new...

Thank you both. Out it will go. I'm of the mind to forego a tank at all and use a pump with container under the sink.
