Hi. We are repairing NOT restoring a Canadian Skylark 1976. Yes there is some water damage and rot we are addressing. Previous owners tried and thought they had taken care of but not so much. In any case the range hood and grill for the furnace are badly pock marked with rust. Chromeish original finish. I think I would like flat black. Any issues or better yet tips?

Sand well and use some sort of "hammered" finish. It comes in various colors.
