Such a long story but to get to the point- bought a cute little 1960ish trotwood and needed to haul home. The one wheel was broken, so I got new tires and decided we would change out to re do. My boyfriend seemed to think that meant “we don’t need the wheels anymore and threw them away.” Soooo the axle doesn’t fit with the stuff I have and I need to get an axle bc nobody can fig out a way to tow it to my house without tires/wheels. Apparently tow places in Ohio are difficult. I dunno- but I know it’s a single axle and drops down four inches but what’s the best place to order this or what do I do. I think I have myself so confused that wheels and hubs and lugs and bolts and blah blah I just want to buy it and have what I need. Or do I try to locate what will work with the axle already on it?

So, you have new brake assemblies and wheels? Is there a way they can be modified to fit? Other idea: put two 4 wheel dollies under the axel and use a roll back to transport.
Or buy new axle that will fit your new brake assemblies. E-trailer is a good source with technical support.
Others might have better ideas.
Good luck

Have it trailered home. And don't throw ANYTHING away until you are finished with your build. Let us know how it worked out.

Hi,
I am sorry you are going through all of this. I am sure it's stressful.
I think some of us are confused. What exactly is not matching? Are the tires too big to fit inside the wheel wells.
Am I right to conclude that the rims and tires you bought won't mount on the existing axle? Is that correct?
What doesn't fit? Did the number of holes on the rims you bought not match. Some rims have 4, 5, or 6 holes to mount to the axle. You said it's a small trailer so it's probably 4 or 5 holes that are needed in the rims.
So, please tell us if the number if the holes are the issue.
Maybe it's easier to buy the correct rims and sell the wrong ones you bought later on. Then you are working with the existing axle and not having to do major surgery to replace an axle.
But we really need a better description of what doesn't match up. At least I do 😊.
Can you post a picture or a link to the picture of the axle hub. That's where you mount the wheel.

If the axle uses "star pattern wheels" they are very difficult if not impossible to find. Again, a photo would help. These axles also use left hand threads on the left side which are no longer available.

Pictures will definitely help.
What part of Ohio are you in?
