Needing some help.
I am requesting information on a 1962 Jewel. Does anyone have any specific information on this year/brand of trailer?
I have joined Larry's (Mobiltec) group to inform my self of the task I am expecting to undertake, but I am having trouble finding many Jewel's on line. Hoping that someone can point me to a place to find more specific information regarding this trailer and year of build.
Thanks so much in advance for any advice you can give.

Hey John,
I haven’t found much on them. I’m doing a complete frame off, on my 58 Jewel. Welcome to the VTT,

Hey John, I haven’t found much on them. I’m doing a complete frame off, on my 58 Jewel. Welcome to the VTT, Thanks tincanalley, for your response. I hope you post your progress. I'd love to see your lay out. My main goal is not have to do a frame off... that's going to be up to the trailer at this point. I have some areas of concern, but the inside is in very good shape except for the rear street side compartment that was the bathroom, (the main bed is parallel to the street side). I've looked online until I'm needing a increase in my prescriptions, just haven't come across the right age, layout, or window placement. My hope is that I can perhaps blaze a trail for others. I hope to add photos soon, February in IL can be a bit harsh and I don't have a place to get it out of the weather, but I hope to start soon with some stuff on the outside. Happy trails.

"My main goal is not have to do a frame off.."
I've done several piece by piece restorations. It can be done but it requires patience. A frame off can sometimes move faster but you'll lose a lot of the "vintage" of your vintage camper.

Looking for a vintage look, but not so invested in the vintage as usable. Speaking of witch, wondering if others have used portable a/c units instead of window mounted. I just purchased a brand new 8000 btu unit for $60 and want to some how incorporate it into the rebuild. Any thoughts?

It’s very inefficient but it a keeps the camper cool. it’s labor-intensive to hook up. It takes about 15 minutes. I have seen slide out units that are easier to use but there are other issues such as venting heat.

Here's what we use. On my '67 Compact I'm thinking about putting a 4" connection underneath and venting it in through a cabinet or something. We don't have a need for A/C very often in our travels. Just my idea, didn't say it was a good one... Whitney

I just purchased a brand new 8000 btu unit for $60 and want to some how incorporate it into the rebuild. Any thoughts? Hi Friends, Some folks have placed portable AC units in the wardrobe. The issues are how do you get the air to the unit and then you have to vent the hot air that is created as a byproduct of the cooling process. Some here, on the forum have managed to do this. Search on "AC units" or "air conditioning". Depending on what part of the country you live in, sometimes a Fantastic Fan installed in the roof vent opening can offer an alternative as it pulls out the warm air. I should add, I have no direct experience with either. I encourage you to research both. Cheers, Rod

I agree with Rod, a fantastic fan does a nice job especially at night. In the hot Arizona desert the ac was a must have during the day
