While on vacation we encountered one of the most interesting campers I’ve come across in a long time. It was just off a canyon road on the Southern AZ / NM line in the Cave Creek Canyon area. Wanted to share with you all. Has some very unique features that I have not seen before. Couldn’t see any name badges on it and couldn’t get a picture of the curb side without trespassing. Just look at the "bent glass" corner windows, multi / angled siding breaks in the front and rear. The "graphics" paint scheme even looks cool on that classic canned ham shape. Might have been one of those "one off" units that survived.

Great camper. The windows rock. Not an aluminum roof, interesting. I wonder what year it is and how long it’s been sitting.

It's a wow, that's for sure. Did you keep track of where it is?

The skin we can see looks reusable. Assuming it is all in great condition, A big savings worth $2500.

Given that it is parked right next to an electric box, I wonder if it was used as a cabin or hunter’s flop.

It's a wow, that's for sure. Did you keep track of where it is? I can pin it on google maps. Edit: Rats! I thought I could, but the shadows from the mountains kinda blocks it. May try some other maps... But will be glad to give directions if anyone want's to give it a go?

The hitch and screw jack look 50’s the same as my 57 Shasta. The water fill looks Shasta like. Cool looking trailer. Can you find out who owns it?

Cool looking trailer. Can you find out who owns it? I live in Indiana, was passing through there multiple times on vacation. By looking at the Cochise Co GIS Mapping, I can get it pretty close, but satellite imagery is not the greatest zoomed in and there is no street view. But, I can get it within a 2 mile stretch of road...

This trailer is a Comet, Manufactured by Comet Trailer Manufacturing Company, Wichita, Kansas. I'm not sure about the year but suspect 1958-59. Comet is still in business and currently manufactures a trailer called a Comet Compact Jr. The Mystery is solved, with the exception of the year. I would like to see a full inside/outside photo shoot just to satisfy my curiosity. I have discovered a photo of the opposite side which revealed a large window in the entry door. It is posted on Vintage Trailer Restoration, only one photo, posted yesterday.

Just got some additional information from Tin Can Tourist. Compact was only in business until 1981. They moved from Wichita to Coffeyville in 1956 under the same family ownership. The Comet Compact jr. was not produced by Comet Trailer Manufacturing, but by Hunter Structures in Chatsworth, California and are no longer in business.

It's got a tag on it but that does mean much. Cool paint job. I wonder if you can find out who owns the land to inquire about it? Of course it could been sitting out there for decades.
