Welcome to our world. Make sure you educate yourself before you do anything at all to this trailer. It is well worth restoring but it must be done right. So do a lot of research before you begin. 99% of all newbies in this hobby start out wrong and end up destroying their trailers.

1955 Aljoa by Andy Smith, on Flickr Just testing my Flickr skills. Want to see if I am doing this right as I am about to pull the skins and start documenting what I discover. ;-)

Hi Andy and it's nice to have you posting. Nice work on removing a lot of that rust on the sconce.
I was thumbing through the other photos of your trailer in your Flickr album. The interior is in surprisingly good condition. I saw the roof vent and it looked decent. I see some water damage around around the rear radius, but overall, the water damage isn't visible from the photos I saw.
Just some unsolicited advice. Make sure you install new window gaskets on all your Hehr windows. Those have been completely removed. I don't even see any dry gaskets. It's not too hard to do. If you have it under cover all the time, probably not a priority.
Cool trailer.

Thanks Rod. I am going to be pulling it into the backyard undercover and then doing a full restoration. Starting with pulling the skins. I am dealing with DMV who has sent me to the CHP for a VIN verification. I didn’t want to start pulling it apart until I was done moving it for awhile.

Got to cleaning up the original hubcaps. Found these under the dinette. Decent condition considering everything. And after removing several coats of Paint... Before: Original hub caps painted over chrome by Andy Smith, on Flickr After: 1955 Aljoa Hubcaps by Andy Smith, on Flickr I think I kind of like the natural patina these have. Thought about getting them all straightened out and re-chromed but I may leave them like this with a little more polishing. ;-)

Love the elbow grease look! You are not kidding! Paint stripper, scotchbrite scrub then rubbing compound. Is there a way to polish up even more? Thinking about a buffing wheel for my bench grinder especially once I get to the window frames!
