Nathan, let me welcome you to the VTT forum, and to the addiction! OK as to your question, before anything else you would need to get the owner involved and to let you make a thorough inspection, inside and outside. There are threads here as to what to look for, and they can steer you in the right direction. You will need to know what kind of condition the thing is in before you are able to determine how much time and money you are willing to put into such a project, and ultimately, you will have to ask yourself "Is this project one I can complete?" Do NOT pay way too much for a project trailer, and perhaps more important, do NOT take on a project that is just too much for you to complete, just because you find something for sale. Any trailer you may want to buy will require : 1.Storge Space--do you have a safe place to store and work on your project, preferably out of the elements? 2. Tow vehicle--do you own a suitable tow vehicle to pull the trailer? 3. Resources--can you pay for or do you have the tools and skills to replace all the rotten and damaged areas? In no way do I wish to discourage you, in fact I'd hope that you DO get a good project and end up with the c canned ham of your dreams, but there is a wealth of experience here on this forum that can relate mistakes they have made along the way. Best of Luck!

That trailer looks pre 50s and could go back into the 30s. The first thing I would want to do is check to see if the frame is rusted away then go up from there. kathleenc yes many horse trailers looked very much like that but the rear doesn't seem to have a drop down door like a horse trailer, although it could be a side load.
Hopefully he will find out more about it and let us know.

Natebabbitt I was looking at your pictures and notice the Datsun Fairlady SRL311 are you restoring it or ? We had a white one up till 2007 when the engine cyl head corroded beyond repair plus the body was starting to rust so sold it to a fellow that still races them for parts. Sold it for more than we bought it for after owning it about 8 years so was happy.

That photo looks so familiar.... Still scratching my head as to where I have seen something similar to it before....
If indeed that is a camping trailer, or even a horse or other cargo trailer for that matter, my guess is that by the time it were rebuilt into anything livable, and tow-able, you would likely be spending into a five-figure purse to get it there.

I think that several builders built that shape in some of their models such as Westcraft, Palace, Vegabond, Owosso. Most post WWII till early 50s.
