Any advice on painting laminate countertops? We're not able to remove and replace the laminate so I think we'll have to resort to paint. We've looked at the Rust-oleum Countertop paint, but just not a fan of the colors they offer. If we were to spray paint the counters, how many coats, what kind of paint, top coat, etc?? Thanks!

I think you need to use a special product to stick and last on counter tops. If you must paint, I would use some sort of poly or resin to coat it. Counters get a lot of abuse, so it needs to be tough.

Do not paint your laminate countertops. This will not end well. Laminate is cheap and incredibly easy to work with. Most old trailers have an aluminum molding around the edges of the countertops- even if you don’t think you’re up to replacing the original, you can just remove the molding, give it a quick scuff sand, make certain it’s clean, and contact cement your new laminate right over the top of the old. It’s very thin, and chances are excellent your molding will fit almost like it did before. You’ll need a flush cut router bit to trim the outside edges once it’s glued down, but don’t let that scare you- it couldn’t be a quicker and easier job, and the tools are cheap if don’t already have/can’t borrow them.
