I am looking for a female plug to match the outside terminal on my 1957 Pathfinder. I will try and post a picture from my phone but if that doesn't work I will do it from my computer tonight.https://www.flickr.com/gp/184441306@N05/69R6gW

Make the photo public Bob, so we can see it. If it's what I think it is, you'll probably have to replace it... I'm guessing it's the old Bargman 35 amp inlet.

So you can't see the picture in the listing like I can? Okay I will see what I can change. Thank you.

I can see it now. It's not a Bargman and definitely needs to be replaced. From the one photo, it doesn't appear to be grounded plus I haven't seen a female to fit that type of inlet...
Check out Vintage Trailer Supply for "inlets". There are many options online. Questions we can answer here.

So what do you or others recommend as a replacement that will fit this existing hole diameter, or close to it?

I enlarge the hole to accept a modern inlet. Depending on the amperage, a 15 amp inlet will be close in size and the 30 amp larger.

That plug appears to be a standard NEMA motor base outlet that was used in many other industrial applications. Although not commonly used in 2 prong today, I think you can still buy them new and I've seen gobs of twist locks at the ReStore and online surplus sites. Some of these plugs had an external brass contact that made a ground connection to the metal male housing, but not a very safe or reliable method by today's standards. The Bargman 35 amp was used only on trailers and the female end is nearly impossible to find. It was obsolete in the 70s. The above is just for info purposes. I vote to upgrade the outlet to something grounded.

I removed the outlet and there is a ground wire soldered to the back side of the outlet but where it goes to from there is anyone's guess. It looks like I only have about 1.6 inches of depth to work with as far as replacing this outlet with a newer version. Does anyone know of one off the top of their head that would fit into that depth preferably 20a with the twist type plug?
