Can anyone share pictures of the original location for the propane tank and battery? I believe my 73 has been modified with the originals being cut from the frame (will share pictures tomorrow after I can upload them to my site for sharing).
Just looking to see where they were before so I can look at recreating it.

I have a 63 Shasta 16SC- and here is where my propane tanks go. Dont know if that helps you. I don't know about a battery- haven't got there yet! IMG_0251 by kathy, on Flickr

That is helpful. I'm curious if this was done by Shasta during production, or by the dealers... Here is what mine looks like. I had a single propane tank connected on the front set of metal bars. There was room for a battery box on the back set (there was a set of aluminium plates that were removed prior to the pictures being taken). With the bars removed: And this is where I'm imagining a set of bars existed before that were cut off. This is on a 73 1400. I doubt that I'll run double tanks, although that is possible. And I'm probably going to add a small battery for the single 12v light inside by the closet.

If you are only using 12 volts to run one light I would use a sealed battery placed inside the trailer, or use no battery and replace the closet light with a rechargeable led light. Does your trailer have brakes if so then it needs a battery to operate the break away switch.

Does your trailer have brakes if so then it needs a battery to operate the break away switch. It does have brakes that I'm planning to service/replace and run new cables to. I located my 7 pin wiring harness/block inside where the water tank was, so I'll run the cables there for that. The breakaway switch was rusted beyond repair, so I'll buy a kit with battery for that. A recharable LED light does make more sense there and I could pull out the rest of what's left of that 12v wiring in the closet. I'm guessing that the majority of our camping will be done in a park that has power and water, but it would be nice to have the propane functional just incase. I need to have all that checked since I'm not sure it was ever used... Although the propane tank I pulled off the front was completely full of propane. When I disconnected the front line from the main connection at the front of the camper, it was filled with water.

We just finished a 6 week trip out west and the 12 volt system was needed more than expected. We have three lights and charge ports for phone/computer/etc.
I welded the battery box where the second tank sat.
