Oh and if you can't tell by the pictures they were literally stuffed between the wall and floor at the front of the camper by the dining table.

I found a pair of work boots in Sundance the 57 Shasta. Size 7D, we thought it was a small man for a while, but then figured out it might have been a lady! The trailer was exceptionally well cared for and very clean. While I know some of you guys are obsessed with clean, often it's a lady.
Interestingly, Butch Cassidy was owned by a fisherman, who was far from cleanly. LOL. I found a rotten jar of fish egg bait, fish lures, rubbing alcohol, 4 umbrellas, 2 lanterns, 1963 newspapers, folding stools, Savidge car rental brochure (5 bucks a day!), hoses, string, two huge rolls of paper (fish wrap?), a JC Higgins tent complete with side curtain, two yardsticks (measure the fish?), dust pans, dishes, a hatchet, a 6' pry heavy bar, a weight distribution system, tire chains and two gasoline cans.
I'm sure I'll remember more...

Not gross or strange, but when I pulled the ice box I found it was wrapped / insulated in 1955 news paper from Riverside CA. Pretty interesting read too!

Speaking of, does anyone know what the old JC Higgins tent is worth? It's canvas and like new + side curtain. I've heard some people really like them....

I found the exact same thing in the 59 Shasta I'm slowly working on. Same place too. It seems that a lot of trailer people went to the same school of terrible trailer repair....

My 54 Westerner was parked in an area very near Barkers Ranch in Death Valley where Manson and his gang were arrested. I bought the trailer from the original owner who used it out there during that time in the 70s. He actually met Manson and his gang many times when they would show up at the desert trailer park looking for cool drinks and people's pockets to pick. Everyone in the park knew that these people were shady to say the least. The park residents carried weapons so they did not worry too much about them. While Charlie would relax and sit inside inside the 54 Westerner shooting the breeze with the owner, the girls would run around the park mining the pockets of the other residents. When I cleaned out the trailer I found two news papers from the era immediately following the arrest of the gang. He also left lot's of other items in the trailer that he did not want back.... I still have the newspapers shown in these photos. They are complete and in very good condition. Lots of little odds and ends all from the 70s and 80s. The trailer sat in Death Valley unused since the early 80s.

I should ask him if it was death valley.

I found a little treasure trove of vintage trailers last summer that were being sold off in Western Idaho. I only ended up with one of them but there was one in particular that stood out because here it sat, abandoned in this field for God knows how long but yet it had food, batteries, silverware, plates, clothes, bedding...everything still in it. It looked like it was camp-ready except for everything had been there for YEARS. It was kind of creepy, almost like somebody must've died or disappeared or something.

Oh my gosh that’s so disgusting!!! The things some people to do as a “quick fix” amazes me!!! Then you’re stuck to pick up the pieces. I can’t imagine the smell!

I should ask him if it was death valley. The Mojave desert is littered with old trailers. Miners used them to live in while working their claim and building a shack. Once the shack was built, they would move the refrigerator and stove and sink and anything else that could be used into said shack. The trailer after that was used for storage or a spare bedroom in most cases.
