Made a big mistake and tried to paint my avocado green with high temp spray paint. Thanks for the tip for IP. I sent them an email for a quote. Grapevine Betty in So Cal is quoting me $500 w/out shipping. I now have to decide to buy a whole new unit or get current panels refurbished. I haven't tested the old unit so that may answer my question. Another lesson learned... don't spend 6 hours cleaning the dang thing before trying something new or testing it. stove 2 by vanessadominica, on Flickr stove 3 by vanessadominica, on Flickr stove 1 by vanessadominica, on Flickr

Vanessa, Test your stove first. It's not worth working on if it doesn't work. Magic Chefs are notorious for having bad oven valves, so be sure the oven works as well. Also, from the pictures, the burners are missing a crucial piece that distributes the flames. The pieces are round with holes around the sides; they sit in/on the burner opening. (unless you took them off)
Did you paint it with off white? It looks good to me. Is it not sticking or?
Honestly, I would do the best you can with it for now. Look for another complete stove in the color you want. Keep in mind that you will need the stove to fit the opening, so an older Princess probably won't.

Thanks Vikx! Yes, I took them off so I do have them. Issue with the finish is that it feels like sandpaper and when I try to wet sand down, it removes the paint completely. I called IP and they can re-enamel for $200. I tested it today and the burners work great! The oven, not so much. I'm missing all the guts. I'm thinking someone took them out to use oven as storage space. SO...I'm looking for the insides. Sent my request to Trailer Trasher and RV Dr. George. If I can find the oven guts I'll send the panels to IP, if not then I will probably just buy a new stainless because we need to cut the counter soon and I can't wait to find another vintage one (unless one turns up!) Well, looks like the pilot is working in the oven... You need the burner as well as the parts shown. Honestly, I'd try to find another stove. Magic Chef oven valves are often no good and they can't be fixed. If you buy a stainless, try for a 3 burner, it will look more vintage than the modern (and larger) 4 burner tops.
