Most Shasta doors were made the same way. I would think you could use a picture of any 65 trunk to copy. They had an extruded frame that the door was hinged onto. Do you still have the frame?

One side is damaged. I’m going to try to straighten it and reuse it. It looks like sheet metal was set inside the frame and the wood frame was attached and screwd to the frame behind it. I just don’t see how the factory water proofed the door withe the metal in set in the frame. I can figure it out but I don’t think my way will be like it was done at the factory.

They were never waterproof, especially with a bump out "bustle". I did one replacement door and ended up using some heavy slide out rubber seal to try and rectify the leaks. It worked but I've lost track of the trailer, so don't know for sure if it lasted.

I’m leaning towards a fake door and seal it all the way around with screws and butyl tape and just access the storage from the inside under the bed.

Frame for the door if you're using new skins. I did that with the 66 Kit and it worked well. Then, if someone wants to add the door later, everything is in place.

I’m using the original skin so the hole is there. I’ll just put the metal frame in place and build a false door that willl seal around the out side but still look like the original.

Sounds good then. I got lucky with the Kit and had some matching skin for the back, so covered the hole.
