"...no reason to invoke unneeded fear." Healthy fear and caution is always better than underplaying the risk and encouraging something that may get somebody hurt. I appreciate members who make a lighthearted joke while answering a serious question. There are times I'm uncomfortable about answering because the honest response is not upbeat. I'm working on being better about it. Kudzu, thanks for the scale link. Up to now I've used this method. The cheapest way to go.

I suspect that the cinder block is pictured that way for illustration, but I think that I'd flip it over so that the part you see is on the ground, and then put a flat piece of wood on top of it to support the scale. Cinder blocks are rather fragile in the configuration pictured, and much more sturdy with the holes going vertically.

Something else that needs mentioned is water weight. many trailers have a fresh water tank in front of the axle and a waste /black water tank in the rear. This can cause a big weight shift between going out and coming home. Just something to consider.
