Here's from the NY DMV website on historical plates: Any motor vehicle manufactured more than 25 years before the current calendar year that is used only as a collector's item or exhibition piece, and not for daily transportation , may be registered with vintage plates from the model year of the vehicle [and this is a trailer for exhibition rallies, right? RIGHT!]. There's the catch in NY. The Historical classification is only available to motorized vehicles, not to trailers, as they are in a different classification. Been there.

So far I have only had experience with trailers in California and although it's time consuming and a little expensive, you can do it with trailers there. Here in Nevada I have not dealt with that part of DMV regs yet. As always, it's different from state to state.
