This is a thought for those of us who (can't) don't want to spend the money on their trailer badges/ name plates having them chromed or other wise plated. My daughters Mercedes wheels were corroded and nasty looking so I looked into refinishing them. I went to The auto parts store and purchased a can each of base coat clear coat wheel paint, pulled wheels off sanded them smooth and painted them as instructed on the can. When I finished they looked a little gray but not to bad, let them dry over night and installed the next day, they looked beautiful like the factory finish no gray at all. I think that most people on a budget would be very please with the finish. I had less than $15.00 in the project, way better than three grand for new wheels.

I've been looking into rechrome on some of my stuff and haven't came across anything yet, do you think the base coat/clear coat would work on the chrome stuff?

Try it if it doesn't suit you paint stripper will take it off. I was amazed at the finish we wound up with. It isn't exactly chrome but it is close.

Something else I forgot to mention the wheel paint clear is resistant to chemicals such as cleaners, salt, and others. The more it dries/ages the better it looks. Several people have made the comment to my daughter that they can't believe she spent the many for new wheels.
