I need to replace the door on my '66 Avalon. It is banged up badly, won't shut properly and the glass pane has a crack right through the middle. I have no idea where to even begin looking for a new door. Does anybody know if door sizes are pretty standard? Or do they vary greatly? I know finding a door from another Avalon would be pretty much impossible, so I'm willing to replace it with anything that will fit.

I can't answer your question specific to the Avalon. However, from what I have seen, doors come in many sizes and styles. I know in my rebuild/restore, I simply built a new door, that was the only option. I would also suspect that if you post some pictures it will garner more input.

Yes, photos needed. Most of us build our doors...

Well, it works if you click on the link. Maybe I'll open a photobucket account so the actual picture will post here...?

That pic didn't work for me!
Welcome to VTT gladeslvr.
I have had to repair the door on every camper I have ever worked on. I usually just take the door off camper, with door frame too if needed. Then disassemble the door. (Peel the skins off it) Replacing rotted wood and insulation on the inside core. The re-assemble the door skins. Re-install door and frame onto camper.
Good Luck! soup

Ethel, our '68 Shasta and Lucy, our '66 Avalon. Lucy is in rougher shape on the outside, but her interior is much better than Ethel. IMHO, Shasta's weren't really built all that well.
