Hard to believe it's not a home-built.

Hi Friends,
Wow! What's the odds of two trailers basically twins together at the same time on CL?
Go Figure. Did you notice the ad for the motorhome shows 4 cylinders? Is that right?
Where would you get parts for the Hanomag? Probably best to drive it to your location on a lake and leave it.
If my curousity gets the best of me, I might email the seller on the motor home just to ask if they know any of the history on that model? How many were actually built and why on a Hanomag chassis?
Canadian model, perhaps? But, weren't Silver streaks built in Long Beach or So Cal? Why put it on a German "platform"?
Cheers,
Rod

Hanomag is/was a well-regarded manufacturer, and in 1969 was owned by Daimler-Benz. In fact, by the 1970s this very same Series F Hanomag was sold as a Mercedes. Very, very cool stuff. That four cylinder is a diesel, and should be dead reliable- no way I'd park and forget it.

Hey Steve,
Thank you for the clarification on this one. I went back to the original ad on CL and clicked on the green sheet image. That was no doubt the promotional data sheet produced by Silverstreak with lots of interesting info. Interesting that it has only 55 horse power. But well, designed for its use. 25 mpg! No doubt why you saw these all over the world behind a 3 pointed star. Just seems to me that I might have seen these in National Geographic.
Me thinks it has low miles.
You have my curiosity engine revving. Maybe an email is order.I am attracted by its uniqueness. Maybe they will share some info.
Later,
Rod

Hi Friends, Well, I tried. So much for telling the truth. Haven't heard a word from the seller of the Hanomag Silverstreak and it's been 2 days. Looks like this one will be a mystery to me, LOL. I felt like I went fishing and didn't catch anything. Cheers, Rod

I felt like I went fishing and didn't catch anything. Cheers, Rod I know how that feels. That is why it is called fishing and not catching. LOL I had the same problem when trying to buy a truck, mostly off craigslist adds, people would just not respond but the add would still be up.

Hi Friends,
Update: Well, I just got a response from the seller. They gave me a little more info:
"This is a one owner family owned unit (we also owned the silver streak dealership). Yes, in fact the trailers and motorhome share the same floorplan."
Cheers,
Rod

Hi Friends, I was at a trailer rally and am just getting a chance to further update the thread. The seller was nice enough to send me 2 pix of the interior 5 days ago of the Silver Streak Matador. Front facing view. Rear Facing view. Also, once the craigslist ad closes, the images at the top of the thread will disappear. I have posted them to one of my albums. The seller sent me a floor plan image as a PDF. I will have to figure out how to post that later. Here is the best I could do with the floor plan info. I took screen shots of the PDFs. 21 foot floor plan info 23 footer gaucho model floor plan info Here is an image of a 1969 Silver Streak for reference. Cheers, Rod

Thanks Larry!
For everyone reading. I just got an email from the seller with the complete scanned Silver Streak sales Brochure for I believe 1969. When I have time, I will put it up in the Brochures and manuals forum.
Cheers,
Rod

Rod, please include the above photos/brochures in that section and then I will lock it.
Actually, I could move this entire thread up to brochures. Any thoughts, gang?

Hi Vikx,
The sales brochure I mention in my last post is only for the Silverstreak line for that year. It's not specific to the Matador, but it does show a picture of the Matador in one picture. I think the brochure should stand on it's own.
For this thread, the easiest for me is for the whole thread to be moved, but what happens when the ad closes? - Unless you can edit in the images in the first post using my links. Those links in the first post go to the CL ad.
I just edited an image of the trailer with the suburban. You can use the link for that image to edit in the changes to Larry's original post with my image links.
Then, the thread would make sense from top to bottom.
Cheers,
Rod
