They look great! I like how he made the break in them. I was lucky enough to get to re-use the flat metal on mine, I had to do new inside and new edging, I just used the same edging as my counters because that is what they originally had(flush mount) The new ones ended up being 3/4" instead of the 1" as they were originally.

I guessed screen spline tool. Pizza cutter seems even better. Should work well for diamond brake patterns too

Way back in the early days of vtt or it the previous board you should be able to find this process outlined in an entry I wrote. I am glad someone made a video of it. Also the plastic edge is a good idea much easier than forming aluminum edge. When making the indents with a pizza cutter it is difficult to keep a straight line, so use a metal guide such as a piece of angle or flat stock to help control the cutter. Also the amount pad beneath the aluminum changes the end result. I always used plywood inside but foam might be a much better idea.

I beg to differ on the “cheap” designation. ;-). They are decidedly inexpensive, but there is nothing cheap about them. The build is sturdy and well done, and these should last a long, long time. Nope, not cheap, just prudent.
