Tomorrow we plan on installing all of the 110 electrical. The original 2 lights with a plug on each are installed behind the walls, which I will do again. But I wanted to add two plugs, one under the bench and one in the bottom kitchen cabinets. I am going to run a wire from the breaker box in the top of the closet down to the bottom of the closet to the bench, then a wire going from that to under the kitchen cabinets. I was planning on just buying some wire staples and running it along the edge out of the way. But my husband butted in and said we need to put it in some conduit. So we called my step dad and got a 3rd opinion and he said it needs to be in conduit. So I just wanted to see what you guys thought? do you usually run inside wire in conduit? or just staple out of the way?? P.S. There was no "new post" tab in 110 so I had to put this in 12V. sorry vikx

First this is from a carpenter not an electrician . Most will prob say its not usually in conduit. If its out of the way should be fine but if its run somewhere where it will get bumped with stuff , conduit might be good. And generally dont run romex in conduit but use individual wires.....black, white and green. Hope you get a reply from an electrician.

I agree with Roadtripper. Most of the time, conduit isn't used and the Romex is tucked/stapled out of the way inside cabinets and closets. The more access to the wiring the better. I made the mistake of too much wiring in the walls of my Hanson. Luckily, I used metal protectors because I almost drove a screw thru it. Grrr. Here's an example of wiring in the dinette: Scroll thru the photos, there's more. Be sure to use a backer at your fixtures for strength. Note, the "wire" label shows wiring in a 1957 Shasta 1500. I'll move this to 110 and leave a note.
