When we first got our trailer I installed a "Rocket" hand pump. It is awkward to use, but because of that our 16 gallon water tank lasts longer. When we lived on a boat I put in a foot operated pump manufactured by "Whale"...I think it was called a Gusher. That worked really well 'cause you could use both hands, and it was easy to control how much water. Before that we had an 12V. electric pump that was really noisy, drew a lot of amps, and went through water way too fast. If you want to Boondock vs. hookups I'd recommend going with the hand pump. It really does make you more aware of water consumption. It is amazing how long 16 gallons can last if you pay attention. If you are planning on being at a full service site with city water, it will not matter.

Yes on the gravity line. it worked well. Didn't need a "real" pump because it would already flow without. The booster wasn't on demand so you have to turn it on and off...

Im about to do mine in the Compact. What size clear hose do you guys usually use for the water hand pump? Im going to have it pull from a water container ill keep under the sink or in the closet. Hey mel did you end up doing this system with the Compact? Just the hand pump pulling from a tank kept under the sink? That's my plan. And where did you have it drain? Yes, I did it in the Compact that I sold, and in the Airflyte. I use a jug under the sink, I had a big blue reusable one in the Compact and a different one in the Airflyte, you just have to find which fits under your sink best. Then I used the normal drain off the back of the camper and drain it into a different bigger jug so there is no overflow. I like it, it works good and is super easy,

Hamlet’s original hand pump has finally given up the ghost. We have already fixed it a couple times. I looked at the “Rocket” but it says the base is plastic. Has anyone found one that not only is all metal, but also works?

Measure your hole carefully to be SURE the new pump base will cover and mount properly. You can buy marine pumps but whoa, are they SPENDY!! I tried to replace a Rocket with a Camco plastic pump but it just wouldn't fit. Let us know what you find.

Thanks, Dan. We will look at that possibility, but will have to do some modifications for our piston-style pump.
