Great story on the find and yes, you have a great find there. This is how I find my trailers. I have never bought a trailer from Ebay or Craigs List. They are out there folks and look what a great piece of history Billy found here. We have one trailer that we tried to purchase for 5 years and then when the elderly lady passed on my partner just happened to notice sheriffs stapling KEEP OUT signs all over the outside skin so he stopped and found out that the daughter was selling the house and all the "junk" around the outside including the 1947 Trotwood with the KEEP OUT signs on it. We got it for $50 and it was complete.
The deals are out there folks. Just keep at it and be patient.

One more observation, Billy... I am pretty sure you would be aware of this already, but just wanted to double-check...The light over the table is supposed to be wearing the globe that is shown hanging on the propane lamp. DO NOT try to burn the propane lamp using that globe! The high-heat globes are available for that propane light, if the original is not inside the camper somewhere.
Also, I would keep that original plate in the camper...if you ever get to going to the vintage rallies and events, you could hook it over the modern plate while you are parked!

Wow good eye Number Ten! That one that is shown is supposed to be hanging over the counter top isn't it?
Ya don't use the wrong globe for the gas lamp.

Im in the middle of a bunch of mini projects on it so I doubt I'll make any rallys.. plus I need better tires. I'm focusing on getting the few leaking windows fixed. I dont have the globe for the propane lamp as there were only 2 identical globes in the camper.. 1 i put over the sink & the other i put on the propane lamp purely for decrative purposes.. What does the gas globe look like?

You can get those in a lot of different places including VTS... www.vintagetrailersupply.com/Gas_Light_Globe_p/vts-306.htmI can't see your fixture so check the size to make sure it fits in the ring that holds the globe. I believe this one works for both the tension one like you see and the one with the three thumb screws... Big Bill is that correct?

I would check the measurements on the existing light and compare them to the listed ones before ordering just to be sure.

this is what the leaking back widow did over the years to the paneling in the camper. So i'm really expecting severe wood rot , like I had under the front side window, under the back window.. but i'm cautiously optomistic that the wood rot is not really bad to the structural wood. after seeing this.. I'll know when i cut the paneling out but again I think it may not be as bad as it could be. .

Billy you must visit the Hall Of Rot thread LOL.... Don't count your studs before you pull the metal off. Don't forget to replace the back frame gaskets too. You probably already know that but just in case.

Backing up just a bit, here is a not-so-great photo of the propane light in mine. I have gotta get busy...I have the rear skin all off from mine and have a number of photos of the dismantling, but do not have any of them where I can get at them now. My rear window and the paneling below is in much the same condition, so I can give you a good idea of what to expect. Have to look them up when I get home this week.
