Anyone install one? If so, what outlet cover and box did you use- the thin walls make it difficult. Trying to decide if I'm going to install one tomorrow or not.

I considered it but decided not to install one because the campground outlet post seemed close enough. I remember mobiltec installing one in a video. It may have been underneath.

Recommended! An outlet on the door side(right side in most cases) is handy if you will have an awning and wish to clip on a string of lights. Electrical service posts are usually on the left side if backed into a spot in most campgrounds. My Lo-Liner came with an external outlet and we use it frequently.

I installed an outdoor rated 12 volt receptacle underneath the trailer, below the door. We rarely camping anyplace with hookups, so a lot of our gear is 12vdc. Handy for filling inner tubes for floating down the river, charging phones or plugging in 12vdc string lights. I plan to install a light next to it, to illuminate the step area when putting shoes on and such.

I vote yes.
If you install the box part inside a closet or cabinet, you'll have more than enough room. Lots of options.

I’m new to forum and bought a “restored” The Holiday 57’ It has a female outlet in the side and I heard “Yes the electrical works fine” and never thought to question a female outlet. My husband states he can make a Male-Male cord but it’s dangerous. The exterior box correlates to my kitchen backsplash so I’m not sure how easy I could have a new one installed. Not sure if a regular electrician is needed.

Hello and welcome, Don't make a male to male cord! When you create a male to a male extension cord or adapter this product will be very dangerous. ... Male to male household plug adapters are not supposed to be available on the market because they can create electrical arcing and can cause a fire and burn your trailer down, possibly even your home. From your description, I am confused, but if outlet on the side of the trailer has two flat prongs or two flats and a cylindrical prong in it, you have the "shore power" connnection. That's for receiving electricity via an electrical cord when you are at an RV Park and don't want to use battery power in your trailer. Do you have a picture? Here is how to post a picture. vintagetrailertalk.freeforums.net/thread/7276/add-photos-hosted-flickr-tutoriaYou will get more detailed answers to your question from someone else here on the board. If it's really a female receptacle, it will have to be changed out. "Inlets" are made (male prongs inside) that could be exchanged fairly easily. Inlets will accept an extension cord. These inlets are sometimes called motor based receptacle but a search of RV inlet should show you a few as well.
That said, research your trailer closely and find out if it's wired for 15 amps or 30 amps. The replacement inlet will be different if each case.
If you are not experienced in electrical work, I would hire a knowledgeable person to do the work. It's nothing to mess around with.

I vote yes. If you install the box part inside a closet or cabinet, you'll have more than enough room. Lots of options. This is exactly what we did, and we use it for every trip. Mainly for string lights. You can see the box sticking out into the closet, but I put a cover over it so there aren't any exposed connections.
