I recently bought a 1971 Kayot Forrester. I fell in lust with this thing and had to have it. Overall it's pretty sound for a '71' but does have a couple soft spots in the floor but I'm postponing that for now. What I have a problem with is the previous owner removed the jalouise window in the rear, installed a piece of plywood so they could mount a window unit ac. I'm pretty old fashioned and would prefer to get rid of the ac all together but I can't find any window replacement. What do you guys think?

I bought a side window for a Forester on ebay.
A member going by trailertrasher sells used parts and I think he has a wide selection of windows. I've bought a lot of parts from him and I've always been more than happy with what he ships me. Hopefully he will chime in.

Has anyone had any luck in installing an updated sliding windows? I'm not seeing one available in the size I need. I really didn't want to have to modify the bones yet.

Are You looking for an aluminum slider or for a household type of a slider. I know the white teflon, or whatever they are made of, for a house or garage type of a building can be special ordered from a lumber store or a window servicing company.

I'd really like as close to factory as I could get. Do you guys think one of the basement windows or new Teflon windows you referred to would work. I have the frame but all the guts are gone. I'm thinking about just cutting a piece of plexiglass and laying in the frame. What do you think about that.

I'm thinking about just cutting a piece of plexiglass and laying in the frame. What do you think about that. I did it as a temp window. It actually stayed in and worked for 3 years until the deeper dive restoration began. I used the factory window frame which was all the last owner left me after his AC unit went in. I sandwiched the plexglass within a wood frame with putty both sides.

That's exactly what I have left, and each window section had its own frame within the larger frame and I've seen no source for those. It also appears that this is a slightly odd size at 15x32 framed opening.
