Not sure yet. It should be parked in my driveway within a week. Excited to get started but wish I had more time before the it goes into storage the end of this month.

Just started restoration on a 1959 Airflyte also. Typical water damage front and rear, all other areas completely dry which amazed me. The original ceiling vent works perfectly and the ceiling panels have absolutely no water damage. The door was missing but the screen door was there and fortunately I had a door from a 59 that I parted out a few months ago. The floor is not soft anywhere that I have found but that may not hold true when I open up the front and rear. I am now rebuilding that door and the left and right storage compartment doors. I have been fortunate in that I was able to selective cut aluminum for the three doors from panels I saved off the scrapped 59. I have replaced the glass and screens in the two rear side window and also the front center window. I look forward to watching the progress Larry (mobiltec) is making. If it wasn't for him and his videos I don't know if I would have tackled this project.

That's great to hear AZ... I save all my metal for the same reason. Comes in handy for replacing smaller areas like doors. My videos are usually about 3 weeks behind real time. Gives me a chance to take breaks and do real work for the rent and groceries.
I noticed the same thing about this one. The ceiling is in really good shape but not perfect. You can see just a little bit of black under some of the twisty nails so you know something got in up there. I'm replacing the top metal anyways so we'll see how bad it really is when I get there. I'll show both sides of the paneling on video so people can tell what to expect from what they can see on the inside of the trailer. And the videos are going to start showing up in about a week and a half.

I'm buying a 59 Shasta with ash interior. It's not pickled, but it's not that beautiful deep orange color of the amber shellac, either. What color is your ash interior, mobiltec? Will you be redoing the shellac like on the last Shasta (from your videos)?

Will you be redoing the shellac like on the last Shasta (from your videos)? Mine will be done with clear shellac. That's what was used at the factory and you don't want to cover shellac with anything other than more shellac. Of course everything will be sanded down a bit first and I must replace the usual panels but the ceiling looks good at this point.

If I were to sand the ash down to bare wood and put on the amber shellac, would it turn that orange color that birch does? This trailer is in pristine, original condition, so maybe I should accept the fact that it's yellow, not orange.... I have looked long and hard for a Shasta in this condition, and the fact that it's not a birch interior is not that big a deal. At LEAST it's not the pickled ash, which I personally detest. Thanks for your reply and sharing all your experience, mobiltec!

Thanks for your reply and sharing all your experience, mobiltec! There is only one way to find out.... Pull one of your dinette seats out of the way or open up a closet and try it out on the ash in there so that if you don't like it, it won't show.... A lot of times the stuff inside the closets is not finished anyways. I don't know about your case.

Larry, My 59 has a birch interior. Bad news is that my 1/8 inch plywood source has dried up. Still trying a local lumber source. The front of mine is solid with new framing and insulation. The trailer goes into storage next weekend. I have taken out most of the interior so I can work on something during the long Minnesota winter. What type of screen door is on your 59 Shasta Airflyte? Mine is gone. Wish I was living in California like you so I could work on it year around. Looking forward to your videos. Thanks for the ones I have viewed, they are very valuable.

Mine has a wooden screen door. If you want you can go to my Deville videos to see how to make one.
