Today's experiment still using the 1.3mm tip. Normally I open the paint flow knob close to full but it flowed a little too fast today and gave me a little orange peel. My wife likes the thin green line as a separator between white and green but I'm not sure.

I like the thin green line also, but with the grey between, that just adds a touch more class to the look. Sam's gonna hate me cause now that's how I want ours.

Today I took a piece painted yesterday and torture tested to see if it dried within 24 hours as promised. To simulate a rock hitting it I dropped the needle nose on the panel from 3' high. Ding but no paint chip. Okay, so how would it hold up if I dropped a hammer on it from 5 feet up... repeatedly? How about if a 17 year old driver backed into the camper while texting? So far it's all good. How about if I parked the camper at a fast food place and somebody took a screwdriver to it? Fail!

I've never done it before. Or do you mean paying somebody to pinstripe after it's painted? I wonder what that would cost? It's worth considering.

You'll never get a perfect clean line so the pinstripe goes over the top and hides it.

I hadn't considered it. Is that your paint job? Very nice. Do you have a source for your pinstriping? And does it hold up in the weather?

I'll probably use pinstripe tape on my paint job as I rarely get a clean line

From what little I know about it. the paint goes on, then the color of pinstrip tape that You want, then clear coat over that to protect the tape. I have never done any pinstripe work but I seen how My cousin did it on a 1974 triumph T-150 tank. Black, gold, with white pinstripes between the two colors. He did 12 coats of clear. that thing really shines.

I'm considering using a metallic silver as a throwback to the polished aluminum stripes on some Shastas. If only it'd stop raining for more than a week, I might have a chance to try out my Harbor Freight HVLP gun... BTW, tank is just a google image I found...there are surprisingly few close up images of taped pinstripes online...

I've actually seen some of the pinstripe tape in pictures of other trailers because we were considering the same thing with the silver. After a few years the stuff was coming off and dulled out. I don't know if it was cleared or not, but it did steer me away from the idea.

No pin striping on any of my trailers and they all have perfectly clean lines and no clear coat so it can be done.... This of course is my pride and joy... The 58 Deville...

Almost to the point of non existent in some places. If the tape is laid then the clear applied, the tape will last as long as the clear coat or the paint. On the triumph tank, if a finger is rubbed over the pinstripe, it is like it is not even there by feel. Only to the eye.
