After thinking about it, maybe Larry is correct. Using 0.40 thick aluminum for a ceiling in lieu of plywood and then adding 1/4 inch plywood on top of the rafters and under the roof metal, is probably overkill. I was concerned about adding racking strength. I bet the metal ceiling will be at least as strong as 1/8 inch plywood. Plus, I'll be adding solid foam insulation level with the rafters, which should make a well supported under-surface to the roof metal. Make sense?
