CorvettCrzy thanks, I got super lucky when I took the skin off and there was barley any rot, that saved me so much time. Also me not being super picky that everything needed to be perfect(new) helped a ton too. Like the counters have a little it of a rust stain, but im keeping them. Most people would have replace the entire panel where the kitchen ceiling light was but I just fixed behind and put a medallion up, just little things like that saved me time and money. This camper was on a major budget and that is part of the reason why I made some of those decisions and I didnt want the camper to be perfect, I want it to be comfortable and lived in. All the little things I was worried about that I didnt do just faded away and were not noticeable during the camping trip. I am super happy with the Airflyte and wouldn't change a thing.. well except for where the sink leaks hahaha I will be fixing that before our next trip I believe I am done restoring campers, I do enjoy it but with Michigans climate and only haveing a few warm months a year I am not willing to miss out on all the summer fun because I have a camper to work on. If I was in a warmer climate it things would be different. I still have to do a few things before on the Compact before I put it up.

You did a great job. I totally understand about the weather. Even with cover we spent about half our time standing in front of an electric heater to get our hands warm. Thanks for posting your "time/money"% savers as well. My Franklin has some small spots on the birch but 95% of it is beautiful and there's no way I could replicate it, now I think ill do something similar over my door that you did with your "medallion" its a great idea and looks really nice! Thanks for posting your progress and tips! Looking forward to hearing about all your trips!

We got back from our trip at the Lower Tahquamenon falls State Park. We had a great time, we were walking distance to the lower falls and the upper falls were only 4 miles away. It was beautiful there with nice trails to walk. My 5 year olds favorite part was going swimming under/behind the falls. My favorite part was seeing a giant Cecropia Silkmoth catipiller feel free to google it because I didnt have my camera with me when we saw it. The park was great, nice and quiet. They had free kids activities every day, we only did one, the archery class. Overall a great trip. The Mackinac Bridge is the longest suspension bridge in the western hemisphere. It connects Michigans lower and upper peninsula. I've been far enough north to cross the Big Mac once. It's quite an impressive bridge. The water in those falls looks a lot like the tannic acid stained waters for Blackwater Falls here in WV: Blackwater Falls Link

Hi Mel, I just read through your entire thread and I really appreciate seeing the way you saved as much of the original as possible and repaired things and did not need to have everything new and perfect. I am planning on doing the same thing with my '63 Century. She has some dents and dings but it shows her character and I don't want her to look brand new. Anyway, your experience is very encouraging!

Do you have a close up of the floor? I may have missed the brand/name of it?

I have been on the hunt for flooring a while now, I really haven't found anything I like that's in my price range. But today while at my moms(45min away) it dawned on me that some weird store she likes has cheap carpet remnants and rugs, so I thought I would stop by to see if they had sheet vinyl and guess what they sure do. Im super picky and wasnt seeing anything I liked but then off to the very edge was one roll I didnt mind, and it seemed thicker and better quality than the others. Score! $50 for a 9x12' the name of the store is called Ollie's and its sort of like a big lots Its nothing fancy but with all the trouble I have had finding something. I like it and think it will work well in the camper. Just a light grey neutral color. IMG-3907 (1) by Mel L, on Flickr nccamper here is the close up pic and where I bought it. But I dont have the brand. But home depot sells remnants the same size for the same price. I have looked at them a few times and they are always different patters. Of course I had saw one I liked more right after I installed this one lol.
