Knowing myself like I do, if I tried making curtains from a fabric that requires the pattern to run one way only, I'd have just about every panel upside down or sideways. BTW, that's quite the statement with those curtains 😁 We had snow one day last week followed by freezing rain to finally just rain, but the forecasters are saying snow all week. I guess we'll see. The skiers and snowboarders are really excited all the mountains opening up. Within a few hours of Boise there are three great options, bogus basin, Sun valley and mccall. I personally hate skiing, tried it twice and failed spectacularly both times, but I love sledding and that's free. Yes the fabric is pretty bold, lol. But I thought the cats had a retro sort of look to them. I usually like a more colorful fabric so that I can pull other colors into into the camper to make it look put together. But I saw the fabric at a good price. $25 will be enough for all the curtains. So I went for it If I end up not liking them ill change them in a few years down the line. I really LOVE the fabric I am using for the Compact curtains. It Is discontinued or I would have used the exact same fabric for the Airflyte too. Heres the compacts fabric if you hadnt seen it in its own thread.

Great fabric.
I wonder how many hours we spend thinking about our restoration projects compared to actually camping? For me it must be 20 to 1.

Today I tested out fixing up the worst panel with the most scratched from the bunk poles. Lightly hand sanded with 320 then put a one light coat of amber shellac on. Thanks mobiltec the multi tool with the flat scrapper end worked, it still took forever but it worked and thats what matters. I am amazed on how little rot there is on the front and back of the camper. The compact was so rotted and I didnt know what to expect with this one, I am pleasantly surprised. Most of the curbing will need to be replaced but the other wood doesnt look as bad as I thought it would be. Front, a little at the edges. IMG-3795 by Mel L, on Flickr The back has very little rot even where the wood is a little darker its still solid feeling. Not that bad at all. You will want to replace anything that won't hold a screw or nail. But it's much easier to do when it's not all a rotted mess... good job on the window removal. It's amazing all the different things you can do with a Multi-Tool...

I'm loving seeing your pictures Mel. What I wouldn't give for an original goucho to have re-done.

Got the bottom side panel off today, AMAZED on how little rot there is. A little by the wheel well, bottom right of the door and under the front window. But thats it! I replaced the pieces next to the wheel well and under the window but the one at the bottom right of the door was pretty solid still so i sistered up a piece of wood next to it to be safe. Those boxes come out. I had to remove them in my 59. They are only there to hold up the goucho slide out and cover up the end of the wheel well.

Today we got the street side bottom skin off. It looked similar to the other side, replaced the two pieces by the wheel wells and the piece under the front window.

Love seeing what you are accomplishing with this ole girl. It is in remarkable shape underneath, I think you got a real bargain with this rebuild. You are going to leapfrog past my work on the Airflyte in very short order. Hope I can still be of any help. I have had my plate really full lately, my apologies I could not get back about the fridge or the hatch door. It won't be long before I'll be asking you for advice!

No rot, no rot, no rot! I love this camper! got a peak under the upper street side panel today. Just need to replace some curbing. We also got all the roof edge nails out and flattened out the edges. Another coat of killz on the feces area. Cleaned out the heater. Cleaned the roof vent tar. Was that thing stored in a warehouse somewhere for the last 35 years?? Wow.
I recognized your wheel covers. At first I thought they were the original plain chrome ones but looked closer...they are the same as the ones I picked up for my 16SC...

Ten, Yes the same hubcaps, those look good all shiny, im not looking forward to shining everything for the airflyte. I dont know where it was stored but I know it was outside at least some of the time because the PO told me a tree branch fell on it, luckily the vent cover broke the branches fall, so there is no damage to the skin, just the broken vent. But there was a lot of caulk on everything so maybe that helped.
