We have debated back and forth on the Shasta about installing a vintage stove/oven in the original location, beside the sink. The PO removed it and turned it into under cabinet space We have come to the conclusion that we would like to use a drop in stove in it's place, so that we can have a microwave underneath the stove (we don't if ever use an oven, and with 2 kids a microwave makes more sense). The MW is currently beside the closet, above the refrigerator.. We are going to put an AC in place of it. 1. Has anyone here done this in a shasta or otherwise. 2. Are there / were there any vintage alternatives that will at least "look" like they should be there. OR Do I have to purchase a new one. Thanks, Brian

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by "drop in", but there were plenty of trailers with only a stove. Here's ours... We moved the icebox to the area underneath where there was a cabinet, just to use it as storage.

Check trailertrasher to see if he has one. P.S. Just added "clean stove" to the punch list, so thanks for that ;-)

The stove top in My camper is a three burner like the one in danrhoades photo except for the control knobs are on the top instead of the front. Those types of stove tops were/are very common.

Interesting topic. I have been kicking around the idea of a "vintage drop in" stove for our 54 AS. The biggest problem is where to find such a unit, and or who were the maker of these. I've tried several different ways to search/find/purchase one of these units. One like the turquoise (sp) unit posted here is just the type I was looking for, anyone have suggestions?

Mel, that stove has an "outdoor use only" warning. Do you think it would be safe inside your camper? I don't know what makes it "outdoor" except that the body looks smaller than the drop in that came with Scotty... maybe more airspace under the burners???

That's sort of what I had in mind. I am still hoping to get a vintage one. I have some time so maybe something will pop up. I am keeping my eye open. There is one on ebay right now that needs a paint job, I guess we could paint it with high temp paint. (it's metal, not porcelain). eBay www.ebay.com/itm/172426819223

Our Spartan has a square shape triple gas stovetop, that was mounted on top of a looks matching birch ply cabinet. It is where the stove would have been. I know its not original. The Po also hung a small microwave under the cabinets, which I took down and miraculously it fits in the cabinet under the stove, we will hard wire a plug for that inside. I want to get a small retro toaster and/or a small retro toaster-oven that can be used but stored somewhere in another cabinets. Cheers, Julia
