I am trying to register and title my 1961 Shasta Astrodome in Texas.
One of the fields on the application is "Carrying Capacity". If its over 4500#, it has to undergo annual inspection. No inspection is required if less than 4500#.
My research says the Empty Weight is 2100#. So I doubt the carry weight will be more than double that. However, I have not been able to find that spec. Does anyone know where I could find that specification?
Thanks!

I would say around 3500 lbs. That way, no inspection and I doubt you could get that much in the trailer...

Our 17' (14' box/w/cabover) 1965 FAN weighs 2800 lbs empty (with 2 group 24 batteries)and about 3200 fully loaded with water, food clothing and stuff.

You would have to take a lesson from Lucille Ball in the movie the long.long trailer and load up a lot of rocks to reach 4,500 lbs. Danny

There is no way I would tell them it's over 4500 even if was. I'd make them figure it out.
The real answer is I would think the axle capacity would be stamped on the axle or axle tag.

You might try going to a salvage yard that buy scrap and they could weigh your camper for a few bucks, Danny

Get weighed, you might "wike" it. Our local recycler charges $10 to weigh a camper. Sounds silly, but remember to disconnect the tow vehicle.

my axle has tags on the break drum. i have a 1970 shasta starflyte. my dry weight is 2500 lbs and my axle max is 3500 lbs. for your registration purposes i would state 3500 lbs bc its reasonable and most likely what you have .
