Several people on the camper trailer forum claim all camp ground electrical boxes are 120 vac only, there is no 240 vac in the box.
The 30a male plug has 3 pins that match the 30a outlet in the electrical box. The round center pin is ground. Volt meter reading from the ground pin to each of the other 2 pins is 120 volts each. RIGHT?
Meter reading between the 2 hot wires is 120 vac plus 120 vac = 240 vac. RIGHT?

Caution: 120 v can kill. If you do not fully comprehend the links below, it would be advisable to consult an electrician. Campgrounds can offer 120 V service in 15 Amp (standard 3 prong household style plug), 30 Amp, or 50 Amp. Here are nice links to general RV electrical issues: rvservices.koa.com/rvinformation/rvmaintenance/basic-rv-electricity.asprvservices.koa.com/rvinformation/rvmaintenance/rv-electrical-101.asp30 and 50 Amp connections each require a unique "heavy duty" plug. Check out this site with 30 and 50 Amp connector explanations and wiring diagrams: www.myrv.us/electric/Generally, the 15 and 30 Amp connections contain ground, neutral, and one hot (120 V) contact. The 50 Amp connector has two hot (120 V) contacts along with a neutral and a ground (much like a two phase 240 V connection). Be safe! Mark

I went out with the volt meter and checked it myself. OK I was wrong I figured the 2 flat pins would be 240 vac and 120 to ground. But meter says 1 flat pin is hot and 1 flat pin is neutral and the round pin is ground.
I bought a 50a to 30a adaptor at Walmart. It plugs into my 50a welder plug. I figured there has to be 240v at the 30a plug but apparently only 1 hot wire is used.
