I'm trying to find someone who has the same icebox as I do. It's the original icebox from our '57 Westerner Deluxe. I want to see if they have the badge that is on the ice tray and if it's readable or even better if it's in almost new condition.
Under all the house paint that was on ours was a pristine emblem and I wanted to save it. Unfortunately the stripper was making me seriously ill, even in the garage with all the doors open and a fan going. So my son took over getting the rest of the stripper off before it dried, but being sick and all, I forgot to tell him to be careful not to get anymore stripper on the emblem because I wanted it saved the way it was. So of course he accidentally stripped the emblem of everything that had been on it and I wasn't able to get a picture of it in case something like that happened.
I'm hoping that someone can get me a clear picture of the emblem from their icebox so I can have a label made to replace the stripped information from mine. Here's some pictures of the icebox before anything was done to it. Hopefully you can see what it would look like and figure out if yours is the same. The emblem is on the right side of the tray that the ice sits on. I've zoomed in as much as I can. I wish I knew the manufacturer, but that was on the emblem which is one reason I want to make a new label.
Close up of icebox closed so you can see the details on the front. The original color is the yellow, but I'm sure they came in other colors.
Here is a picture of the door open. There is a rack or shelf missing that would have rested on the white pegs you see on the side wall under the ice tray.
This is as close as I can get to the emblem. If you look closely you can hopefully just make it out.
I hope someone can help, I really don't know where else to turn. I'm sure some of you think it's silly to want to do this, but I have put a lot of work into this thing and it's just not looking right to me to have that raised piece of metal where you know something was on it but now it's missing. I guess I have a touch of OCD concerning the trailer.
