Hello all, I promised that if the gasket I ordered was an acceptable replacement for the gasket off my 56 - 57 icebox I'd post the link for others to have. It arrived today, and other than missing the lines on the front, it is exactly what was original as you can see in the pictures, and I think it's pretty clear which is the original and which is new: When the door is completely together I'll post pictures of it also. Until then here is where I FINALLY found the gasket after weeks of searching: McMaster-Carr: www.mcmaster.com/Search for item #: 1142A18, catalog page is 3514 Description: Weather-Resistant Rubber Seal, Surface-Mount, Hollow, 1/2" Overall Width I purchased 6' length and there is plenty to go around the door. It cost $17.12 with shipping and handling. One last thing, make sure you look at the old gasket for how the corners were made to work. Mine have sections of the gasket cut out to make the bend, so it's a good idea to keep your old gasket around until you've finished reassembling the door.

Looks a lot like back frame gasket.

Looks a lot like back frame gasket. It is very close to the back frame gasket, but just different enough that it wouldn't work as well. Part of it would stick up around the door. Here's some pictures of the two gaskets together so you can see what I mean, Not only do they look different, but the back frame gasket is stiffer than the icebox gasket so I think that would make it harder to shut the door. But the back frame gasket is a tiny bit cheaper ($25 for 12' vs $17 for 6'), so if someone wanted to try it I don't see why they couldn't other than the issues I listed above.
